About the Business
All of our team are highly trained and are consistently pushing themselves forward to harness new skills to add to their extensive knowledge base. We were based at the end of Midland Road under the railway bridge, near the old Focus DIY store, trading from what looked like an old shed! We then moved into a shop with a printing works at the back, next to the old Bedford Modern School building in the town centre, where the Harpur centre is now. During the Re-development of the town centre we relocated to a purpose built building in Brereton Road.
Printing for the first 70 years remained largely unchanged, printing from solid metal and wooden type. In late seventies lithographic printing was introduced - which is basically printing from a flat metal plate, rather than solid type. In the mid 80's we introduced photo-type setting - an all in one very basic computer and printer. We purchased our first apple mac in summer of 1994, with an A3 laser printer & software it was over £10,000.
